Who is Bruno the Brain, our mascot?

Bruno the Brain is our mascot, a friendly brain character who stands for the Tomatis Method, which is for children and adults alike. He was created by our favourite designer, Damien Vaney, in March 2017, and was named in memory of a colleague who has passed away.

Updated on , a 1-minute read.

You may have noticed our mascot, a cheerful brain sitting proudly next to the name of our centre. His look changes with the different areas in which the Tomatis Method is used, and he also changes clothes with the seasons, or even with the news.

Bruno was born in March 2017, from the sharp pencil of our favourite designer, Damien Vaney. Our brief: a friendly mascot, linked to the Tomatis Method, that would speak to children and adults alike.

Damien's first sketches

We started out from the word “Tomatis”, so Bruno was going to be… a tomato! But we weren't really convinced, and in the end we chose a brain. More logical, don't you think?

The Tomato-is mascot

At first, the “brain” option wasn't very convincing either. The shape of a brain is hard to capture: too much like popcorn, too much like a sausage, or too academic. And pink, really?

Pink popcorn? We'll get there!

In the end, Bruno took his final shape by combining the two approaches. Better in blue, isn't he?

Already better in blue, and a brain at last

Once the mascot was created, all that was left was to give him a name. Bruno came quite quickly. First, in French it rhymes with “cerveau” (brain), and few first names end in “o”. Then, it's short and easy to remember. And finally, it's a nod and a tribute to another Bruno, who worked in advertising and left us a little too soon. Today, it is also under his name that our team answers you on LiveChat, our online help service.
