How long does treatment take at your centre?
To answer this question properly, we need to know what brings you to see us. The protocol we follow is not the same for someone who wants to sing better as it is for an autistic child.
How long is the treatment?
The length of treatment can be measured in hours, but it is more often measured in listening sessions. Each session usually lasts 10 to 13 days, with an hour and a half of listening a day with the electronic ear. A person may need anywhere from one to four sessions, depending on their needs. Sessions can take place at a Tomatis centre or at home.
The first two sessions should be scheduled 3 to 4 weeks apart, then 2 to 3 months should pass between the second and third sessions, and 6 months between the third session and any further sessions.
In short, for a standard protocol of three listening sessions, you should generally allow about 4 to 5 months from the start of the first session to the end of the third, including the planned breaks that give the brain time to integrate what it has learnt.
Do I have to finish all the listening sessions before I see results?
Results can be seen from the first listening session. They then build up and settle in as the sessions go on.
