What is the Tomatis method?

Discover the basic principles of the Tomatis method: how it trains the ear and the brain to coordinate the ear muscles better, which improves speech and concentration.

Updated on , a 1-minute read.

The Tomatis method is a unique approach to speech and language therapy, based on the principle that the ear plays a key role in developing communication skills. The music is delivered through both air and bone conduction, with a slight delay of around a millisecond, which allows the brain to anticipate the switch designed to surprise it.

The method is designed to stimulate the ear and improve the listener's ability to hear and process sound, leading to better coordination of the ear muscles and improved speech and concentration.

It can also help improve pitch, tone and rhythm, reduce stage fright, and improve overall voice control and resonance.
