Why are the sessions done intensively?
Making knowledge automatic is essential to learning well. The Tomatis method uses intensive listening sessions with an electronic ear to help you take on a new way of listening and a new way of communicating. Repetition and practice make knowledge and skills automatic, which frees up space in the prefrontal cortex for further learning.

Making knowledge automatic is essential. Automation means moving from conscious processing, which takes effort, to automatic, unconscious processing.
When we learn something new, our brain relies on explicit processing: a stage in which the prefrontal cortex is heavily taken up by attention.
Learning reaches its peak with the “transfer from explicit to implicit”: knowledge and skills become automatic. This comes through repetition and practice, and it frees up space in the prefrontal cortex to take in new learning.
It is essential to repeat something you have just learnt:
- to remember a piece of information, our brain needs to go over it at least three times;
- to take on a new habit, it needs 21 days.
Intensive sessions with Tomatis®
Listening through the electronic ear helps you take on a new listening posture, a new way of listening and communicating. It really is a form of learning, and that is why at least 2 weeks of listening are needed. Depending on the nature of the difficulty, the person's age, their motivation and their availability, we will suggest two or three 2-week blocks of listening.
